Catalogue No. 2101
This is an early 19th century (c.1820) Georgian mahogany bow fronted chest of drawers. The chest stands on swept feet, joined with a a shaped apron. The chest is fitted with three small drawers with the central drawer having an oval panel of crotch cut mahogany (this cut of veneer gives a good grain pattern as it is where two branches join on the tree). The panel is edged with ebony and boxwood line inlay. The drawers are fitted with replacement brass oval handles with the central top drawer being fitted with a key. The chest is in good clean condition throughout, exhibiting a warm mellow colour. There are two small repairs to the rear corners of the top and one to the lower portion of the apron.
