Catalogue No. 1809
This is a late 17th/early 18th (c.1700) oak chest on stand. The chest consists of two short and three long drawers. The top of the chest is polished as is often the case on smaller size chest on stands. The base section consists of three small drawers, with an arcaded frieze and stands on six turned legs, connected by a shaped under-frame, terminating in elongated bun feet. The chest is fitted with later brass plate handles. The chest is in good overall condition with a few minor old repairs to the bottom edge of drawer fronts, commensurate with age and usage. The bottom section of the base (turned legs) is a later addition, in line with the original design. The chest displays a good mellow colour.
