This is a late 19th century (c.1880) oak pedestal desk. The desk consists of the normal arrangement of two pedestals, each fitted with three graduated drawers, and a top section fitted with a further three drawers (forming a knee-hole when assembled). The pedestals stand on plinth bases with china wheeled castors below. The drawer fronts are fitted with replacement brass ring handles. The desk is fitted with a mellowed green leather writing surface. The desk is a clean honest piece with no damage and only very minor marks, commensurate with age and usage.
